Jamie's Journey to Gender Affirming Top Surgery

Hey there!!! I haven't done one of these before, so bear with me!

My name is Jamie. I'm a trans woman living in New Jersey, and I've been on HRT for the past 3 and a half years. I care about our environment, water resources, time with my friends, gardening, and supporting my local LGBTQ+ community! Currently I am out of work, and will be looking to go to school in the fall. With this information in mind, I am looking for some help!

Before I leave for the west coast to pursue my degree in Environmental Science, I am looking to receive some essential, affirming care, before I leave for school. To put it plainly, I'm going in for Chest Feminization surgery May 9th. I am blessed with having insurance in a time like this, before a major milestone in the next chapter of my life.

Even with insurance, I am looking at a sizable bill that I will still need to pay Out of Pocket of over $2300.00

With that in mind, I am very aware I am much better off than many other trans people in similar circumstances. Regardless, this amount is a greater amount than I would expect at a pivotal point in my life. I have moving expenses for school, my rent, and current groceries to cover until then, and while yes I am applying for disability, this is a greater expense than I expected.

I set this gofundme at $3000. I'm asking for the additional 700 to help cover me for food and medication during my post-surgery recovery, which will take 6 weeks. Once again i'm privileged and blessed to my situation all the same. Surrounding me are friends and loved ones who have offered to help me during this time, with day to day activities, like getting groceries.

Should this reach the goal or go over the $3000, I plan to put the remainder towardutilities, rent, andother important gender affirming procedures I cannot supplement with my own income.
