Jamie’s Battle - Onwards and Upwards

Jamie’s battle.

Jamie is 38 years old and from Colonsay, Sk
originally. She married Shaun Henry in
August 2008. They have lived in many places in Alberta and Saskatchewan , but last year
moved to Wainwright, Shaun’s hometown.
They have 2 amazing and busy boys, Kiptin is 9 and Kohen is 8.

Shaun and Jamie have volunteering in their
blood and anyone who has lived in the same
community as them will express how
invested in their community they are. Shaun has been on town council, a volunteer
firefighter and lots of time with the boys
sports including coaching and managing.
Jamie has spent the last 3.5 years as part of a group (raising over $300,000) with multiple
fundraisers to build the Kindersley pool.
Fittingly she got Kindersley Volunteer of the Year in 2017.

Jamie’s battle began in March of 2018 when
she was diagnosed with stage 3, triple
negative inflammatory breast cancer. She
started 8 rounds of chemo immediately and
after 3 weeks of completing chemo, the
aggressive tumour continued to grow and on October 1st she had a bilateral mastectomy
followed by 25 rounds of radiation in
November. After numerous appointments
with her oncologist, Jamie opted for a one
year clinical trial of a chemo pill that would
hopefully keep the remaining cancer cells at
bay.

Unfortunately in August 2019, after suffering with a pesky cough, they found a mass in
her right lung. Devastated, she started
chemotherapy treatments again and was
now diagnosed with stage 4 metastic breast
cancer. At her half way CT scan at the end of November, they were given great news that
the disease in her lung had shrunk by 2/3.
However, in the meantime, Jamie was suffering with severe headaches. After an MRI on
December 19th, they learned that the
Cancer had metastasized to her brain. The most devastating and gut wrenching news in
this journey. Jamie completed 5 radiation
treatments over Christmas. The radiation to her brain has affected mostly her mobility
and she uses a walker to help stabilize
herself. Jamie has a lot of pain daily and her
team continues to try and make her feel more comfortable.

Shaun has been at home with Jamie and the
boys so they can be together as much as
possible. This go fund me account has been
started to help Shaun, Jamie, Kiptin and
Kohen. The plan is for them to use the money how they see fit. For ongoing medical and
travel expenses, to use for family trips/experiences and to simply allow Shaun to take the
time off work without worrying.

Shaun and Jamie would like to thank
everyone from the bottom of their hearts for everyone’s continued support. They ask as
they continue this fight to keep them in your
thoughts and prayers.

Never stop believing in Hope, because
miracles happen everyday.

Onwards and upwards.
