Jamie Reibel's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Jamie Reibel has struggled for a while with recurring diverticulitis. He went in on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 to have surgery to remove about a foot of his colon. During the surgery, they removed the diseased section and reconnected the two healthy parts of his colon, not a simple surgery but also fairly routine, with recovery being 4-6 weeks.
However, things did not go as planned. Jamie was in the hospital for three days then home for about 18 hours when he was rushed back to Chesapeake for complications. It was determined that he needed emergency surgery because there was a leak where his colon had been reconnected and his body was filling with infection.
Since then, he has fought every day for his life. He has battled kidney failure, collapsed lungs, a blood clot in his lung, heart problems, infection and now problems with his pancreas.
He has now been in ICU since October 29th. His road to recovery went from 4-6 weeks to 4-6 months if there are no further complications.
Jamie provides for his family by fishing. He owns and operates a charter boat and in the off season he fishes commercially. With his current condition and even his best-case-scenario recovery, he will be out of work until the spring, maybe even summer.
This has been incredibly hard for not only Jamie, but his family as well. His wife, Abbey, has not left his side. They have a teenage daughter who has taken on the responsibility of caring for things at home.
Please consider giving to this family. But most importantly, please pray for them, send them positive thoughts and energy, and remember every day that life can change in the blink of an eye.
