Follow me on my journey to attempt to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games .....
I'm Jamie, I am 18 years old and passionate about life !!
I was born 14 weeks early.
A fighter from the beginning - a tough little premmie weighing only 1034 grams.
I have cerebral palsy and I am profoundly deaf but I have never let that get in the way of enjoying life.
I use a wheelchair for mobility, I have a cochlear implant for hearing and I have always loved swimming ...... it makes me feel free !!
This is me learning to swim .....
In 2016 I joined the PARA Start swimming team at the University of Queensland.
The PARA Start team are conducting a research project to prove that swimming helps the overall wellbeing of people with cerebral palsy.

And I'm living proof it does !! Here is a photo of me with the PARA Start team.
It has been amazing to join a swimming team for Para athletes.
I train 3-4 times a week and I love it.
I am classified as an S2 SB2 SM2 Para swimmer.
Last year I competed in the Qld State Championships at Chandler.
I swam in the Womens 12 and over 50 Meter Freestyle Multiclass. I was only 3 seconds off qualifying for the Nationals.
I am training hard this year and my goal is to make to the States and then Nationals !!
Then on to attempt to qualify to swim for Australia in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic games.
I recently had the opportunity to do a photo shoot with my idols Cate and Bronte Campbell for Yellow Cabs.
I was so excited and it was amazing talking to them about swimming. I hope to be as inspirational as they are !!!

Your donation will help me with transport to training, transport to competitions (eg. State Championships), airfares to competetions (eg. National Championships), professional coaching and swimming equipment.
