Jamie's Cancer Fund

Jamie, a dedicated husband to his wife, Tammy, has been married 19 years and is the father to two living children, who are 13 and 10.  This summer he felt a lump in his neck and had trouble swallowing.  After several appointments, he had surgery to remove it. 

When the lump was biopsied, it was discovered to be a lymph node positive for cancer, meaning the cancer had metasticized.  While the doctor’s know that Jamie likely has a head and neck cancer, they have not yet determined where it originated.

Jamie had a job as a truck driver, but last year he switched jobs so he could be home more and spend more time with his family.  He has only been at his current job for less than a year, so he had just one week of paid vacation time and sick time.  He doesn't qualify for FMLA because he's been at his job for less than a year.

Due to his recent surgery and other doctor’s appointments, he has quickly exhausted his paid time off.  He will need to have several other medical tests done including a PET scan and possibly another surgery to discover the original site of the cancer. Treatment will likely be surgical followed by chemo and/or radiation.

This fund is to help pay the family's bills because any time off that Jamie needs going forward will be unpaid.  In addition, Tammy is a homeschooling mom to their children and is not currently employed.

Tammy and I are both members of a homeschool group and have been for the last four years.  Tammy is an active   member, organizing field trips for the group and book clubs for both the elementary kids and the teens. 

 If you feel inclined to donate, the family would be very grateful.  When you or your spouse is going through something like this, the last thing you want to worry about is how the monthly bills will be paid.
