Advanced Inflammatory Breast Cancer and Insurance was just CANCELLED
Jamie is a single Mom of four with six grandchildren, with her minor son Andrew, still living at home. She is a Registered Nurse whose life was literally turned upside down in July 2018. She was diagnosed with Advanced Stage Inflammatory Breast Cancer, which has metastasized to multiple lymph nodes. Inflammatory breast cancer is a rare and very aggressive type of breast cancer that tends to spread quickly.
This news would be devastating for anyone and considering she is a single Mom who has always been the breadwinner, the Mom, the nurse, the ROCK for her family; she has had to swallow her pride and humbly accept any and all help. Since the diagnosis and due to multiple hospitalizations, and one health set back after another, she has been unable to work.
Jamie’s insurance was canceled this week and she needs our help for the following treatments: (This is by far not all the treatments she needs, these are the most pressing, and it is our understanding that she will need a mastectomy in the very near future.)
· PET scan which aides the surgeon and radiation oncologist for her future surgery
· Neulasta a white blood cell booster that helps protect against the risk of infection during strong chemotherapy
· Chemo, as her continued inpatient treatments are now denied since they have canceled her insurance
· Twelve different medications which paid out of pocket would total over $4,000 PER MONTH
· We are looking at over $50,000 to even get her through to the next stage, which is the Bi-lateral Radical Mastectomy. We honestly have no clue how to even put a dollar amount on this next stage. We are just taking this one-step at a time.
She is now going through the process of applying for state funded insurance, with the hopes of being able to stay with her current cancer care team. As unlikely as that would be, she does still hold hope because any delay or interruption of care could be detrimental.
Let’s raise some funds for her to stick with the team that knows her unique circumstances and has been caring for her for since the beginning of her fight.
Jamie had throat cancer in 2016, she fought, and won that battle, WE can all help her win this battle too!
