Jamie Robert Charles Smith

Hello, I'm Charley, Jamie's sister. I am setting up this go fund me in memory of my big brother to help pay towards funeral costs and a little memorial bit in my mums garden so she has somewhere to sit to remember her Sunshine- Jamie.

We have set this up so people can donate instead of buying flowers, condolence cards/gifts etc.

Here's a bit of background- Jamie fought a long hard battle with Drugs, he had a hard childhood and just couldn't cope with the reality of it, jamie was on the streets for 10 years not wanting any support from us even though we tried over and over. This all ended though last October when Jamie went into hospital with a problem of his heart valve and had to have a repair surgery done, from this point Jamie become sober only using his prescribed methadone, he stayed like this for 7 months, but little did we know Jamie had an infection from the operation that carried on all throughout those 7 months, it was missed over and over again. Jamie then ended up back in hospital 2 weeks ago and sadly passed yesterday 22nd April from a severe stroke.

One thing Jamie wanted more than anything was to be an advocate for drug use and to do talks and stuff to children to help prevent what he went through happening to others.

I know many people believe drug users are just scumbags but my brother was far from one, addiction is a mental illness and one he fought so hard to overcome and did. The pride we all feel for him for doing this is so big.

So we as a family are asking for any thing even a couple of quid just to help towards a costly cremation.

Thank you for all your kind words of sympathy, and if you knew Jamie well all we ask is that you remember the good parts, how intelligent, clever, funny, loving and annoying he was before the addiction took over.

Anyone who see Jamie recently would know we finally had the real jay back. He was one of a kind and will never forget him or stop missing him.
