Jamie move to college from NCF

Hi, my name is Jamie Stoner, and I am raising funds for transportation and move-in costs for the journey to Hampshire College in Massachusetts from New College of Florida. I had to make some difficult decisions regarding the upcoming semester in a short period of time, as the situation at New College deteriorated and felt progressively unsafe over the course of the summer. In the past two weeks, I have worked hard to complete forms and submit all required documents so that I can move up to Hampshire in a short while.

Driving to Massachusetts from Florida will be the longest trip I have driven by myself, and I am thankful to have places to stay during that time. However, the extent of the costs of gas and food during the trip were not fully known until my decision to transfer was made, and the difference from the three hour trip from home to Sarasota is signigicantly less than the 18-22 hour drive up to Mass.

I am extremely grateful to Hampshire College for offering New College students this incredible deal, where my tuition costs at New College are matched by financial aid at Hampshire, which has made this transition financially possible for my family in that aspect. However, housing expenses and other costs left over after financial aid are higher than we would be paying at New College by a few thousand, so funds outside of billed expenses are more limited.

Any support for this fundraiser goes towards gas and travel expenses or towards living and move-in expenses once I am at college. Because I have limited space and will be traveling in just my car, I am likely to have expenses for dorm items that I will have to purchase once I move in, as well as things I don't already own, such as cold-weather wear and boots.
