Jamie Martin Kidney Transplant

Donation protected
10 years ago, during a routine physical, my brother-in-law, Jamie was diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney disease.  The doctor's had no explanation as to how or why this happened to him.  He was routinely monitored for any changes.  In May of 2017, Jamie got sick and landed in the ER where tests revealed that he was in kidney failure.  In August 2017, blood work showed dangerously high levels of Potassium and he was diagnosed with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) with end stage renal disease (ESRD).  Doctor's advised he needed a kidney transplant as his kidneys are only working at barely 10%.

My niece, Maggie, who is only 18 years old and is Jamie and Nancy's only child, has been tested and is a match to donate a kidney to him.  She is currently going through the final stages of the donor process at the Cleveland Clinic and has been assigned her own team of doctor's that will see her through the surgery.  The plan is for Maggie to donate a kidney to her dad before the end of this summer.  There are many pieces and parts that need to come together for this to happen but we are optimistic that it will take place in early August.

I, along with my family, am asking for your help in raising money for Jamie.  If you know Jamie, then you are one lucky person!  He is one of the kindest, funniest and most giving human beings on this earth.  He would literally give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it.  His laugh is contagious (if you've heard it before, you know what I mean!).

There are going to be expenses involved with this kidney transplant that are not going to be covered by insurance. Nancy will have not only her husband but her daughter in the hospital.  Jamie will be off of work for a minimum of 3 months while he recovers.  His immune system will be compromised during this time.  While a transplant will, God-willing, heal him, he will have a long road to recovery and a lifetime of maintenance keeping himself healthy.

I humbly ask you for your help today in easing some of the financial burden that Jamie, Nancy and Maggie will be enduring during this most difficult time.  The fact that they as a family are tackling Jamie's illness head on and my niece is making the sacrifice that she is for her dad, speaks volumes as to who they are.  Thank you for your consideration and please keep them in your prayers.
