Jamie Lima has been one of my best friends for the last decade. She is truly the purest, most humble and generous person I have ever met. She would give you the shirt off her back and her last dollar before she would let someone go without. Unfortunately, this last year has been the hardest year of her life. Jamie continues to face medical challenges "allegedly" from a prescription she was given by her doctor. Her current medical team stress the importance of "This is life or death". Please read below about her medical journey and if you are able to give I know her and her 3 daughters would be more than thankful .
In April 2019 Jamie was prescribed Lamictal (a mood stabilizer and black boxed medication) from a doctor in California. Back at home, 5 weeks later, Jamie's entire body was covered with a rash and severe swelling.
In May, she went in for two different biopsies where they were unable to find a cause.
She was in and out of work because of the burning rash and pain from swelling.
In June, Jamie saw a dermatologist who immediately told her to stop taking Lamictal. She was diagnosed with The Dress Syndrome (similar to Steven Johnson Syndrome). Jamie's legs swelled so much she couldn't walk and had to take a leave of absence from work. Her new doctor also diagnosed her with Psoriasis and Psoriatic arthritis and told Jamie this is a direct reflection from the medication Lamictal. In July, Jamie admitted herself to the hospital because she couldnt walk. The hospital gave her water pills to help her because her body was full of fluid. Jamie was motivated by her family and doctors to consult an attorney because they believe it is all symptoms of the Lamictal medication.
In August, Jamie had a team of Lawyer's agree to take her case and needed her to have multiple medical exams to move forward. These exams tested her brain, nerves, bones, and organs. During this few months Jamie had multiple falls, was often unable to leave her bed, and unable to eat.
In October 2019 Jamie was hospitalized for 3 weeks at the University of Washington Medical center. She was admitted for full Kidney and Liver failure. Jamie's team of doctors were able to get her Kidneys to a "new normal" and told Jamie she needed to be put on the Liver Transplant List. During this time in the hospital Jamie lost most of her hair and muscle mass and was taking 16 different medications.
The team of Lawyers informed Jamie of the difficulty of out of state subpoenas and that there was a great chance they would lose the case. If that happened Jamie would be unable to pay attorney fees so they mutually agreed to end the case.
December 24th 2019 Jamie was admitted back to the hospital because she couldnt move or breathe. She was told that the 30 pounds of fluid in her stomach was leaking into her lungs. The hospital drained her lungs and sent her home with a wheelchair. Jamie has to have a chaperone with her at all times. She can no longer walk, or drive. She is going back in the hospital this week in hopes to have the fluid drained from her stomach. She continues to wait for a new Liver.
Jamie is the mother of 3 beautiful girls. Mykayla 12, Mailee 11, and Miranda 8. She has been raising her daughters alone for 8 years. She can not afford to survive off of her long term disability alone. Jamie needs financial security while she's in this fight for her life and I hope that between all her family and friends and even the kindness of strangers we can come together and help her.
Other ways to give are to Jamie's venmo account Jamie-Lima-2 and her cashapp $Limajamie
I will continue to update as I can. Thankyou so much for reading and sharing.
