Jamie O'Keefe is beating cancer!

Hi, my name is Amanda Hammond-Williams. I am raising funds to help pay for my son's battle with cancer. It all started when he felt pain in his upper shin. He thought he might have hurt his leg when he fell off an electric scooter. It was first diagnosed as a desmoplastic fibroma, but he had to wait 4 months for it to be removed due to early covid restrictions at the hospital. It was finally removed on his birthday in 2020. But the tumor had grown back one year later, and he now needed to undergo chemotherapy - 4 rounds lasting 5 days each. The tumor did not respond to the chemotherapy, so he underwent a total knee replacement in March, 2022, which is to be followed by several more rounds of chemotherapy.

 

James returned to San Diego from New Mexico full of plans to join San Diego's theater community and follow his dreams of being on the stage. He majored in theater and dance at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. Unfortunately, dancing is no longer part of that dream. He has been out of work for about a year, and he is currently staying with me while he recovers from the surgery that replaced his knee and the top part of his tibia.

 

The medical bills keep coming in - and although I have great coverage, he will no longer be on my plan since he just turned 26 yesterday, so he can no longer be considered my dependent.
