Losing 9 mos of income for treatment. Please help
My name is Jamie. I have been battling anorexia for the past 3 years. This journey took me through 5 months of treatment, a year of unemployment, and a move back to Florida to be closer to family. The past year and a half has brought a lot of positive change and, in many ways, my wife and I are flourishing! I currently work as a therapist on a children’s mental health crisis unit. While I love my kids, taking care of others over myself has taken a toll on my mental health. My eating disorder found its way back in. It chipped away at my health until I could not ignore it any longer and asked for help. My therapist recommended me to residential treatment and after difficult conversations with my family, I decided this was the right path for me. I was accepted to the Viamar Health residential program in West Palm Beach, FL and will be leaving as soon as I get medical clearance. I am so grateful for the privilege of a supportive family and good health insurance, and I know I need to take this step in my recovery. At the same time this is going to be a huge financial burden on my family not just with treatment cost but the potential loss of my income for 6 months. My job does not offer paid leave and my wife cannot cover our cost of living on her own. If you can please find it in your hearts to donate, then my family can be taken care of and I can get the most out of this treatment opportunity. If you would like to leave an address I will write you a letter to share how your donation has aided my recovery.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. If you are unable to donate, I’d appreciate if you could take a minute to pass this along.
Love,
Jamie D.
