Jami Needs Your Help on her Healing Journey!

It hasn’t taken me quite a while to be ready to write this, but here we go! I need your help. I should have said this a long time ago but I didn’t know how yet. If there is one crucial thing I have learned in this healing journey I have been on these last couple of years, it is the importance of honesty and crucial conversations. I have become much better at this but it is still a work in progress.

Here’s the honest truth. Losing Horatio to suicide was the hardest thing I have ever been through. Betrayal and suicide trama is very real and it had a hold of me for almost two years now. I was barely staying afloat. My depression has taken me lower than I ever thought possible and I have been through some very hard nights. I am not out of the woods yet, but I am doing everything possible to continue moving forward to reclaim my life and light.

All of my life, I knew I wanted to work with children and serve. It is where I feel most loved, seen, valued, and closest to God. About a month ago, my therapist sat me down to explain how he believes I need a break from teaching so I can truly work on myself and my healing. I was so saddened by this, but I knew it was what was best for me.

In August, I am finally doing what my heart has always wanted. I am moving to the Dominican Republic for an extended stay to do missions and work. This has been a dream of mine for almost ten years now. In total honesty, living in the DC area in a home and city made for two people has taken a toll on me financially.

This is where I need your help. I am going to be fundraising, working, and collecting materials all summer for my work there. If you would love to support me financially on this mission of mine, it would mean so much to me. It’s pretty expensive to move and get everything ready but I am up for the challenge and know my path is already set before me. Also, please don’t feel obligated to donate financially if you cannot. I would also love prayers, uplifting words and thoughts. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to help in any other way! Thank you in advance for your help and/or support.
