My name is Riley and I am Jami’s daughter.
On behalf of my family and I, we would like to begin by thanking everyone who have sent their condolences. We have received numerous phone calls, texts, flowers, candy, cards, meals, and thoughts and prayers. They all have been both comforting during this difficult time and a reminder of the impact that my mom had on so many others.
My mom, Jami Dawn Euper or Jami Dawn Alkire as some of you knew her, was born on June 16, 1968. She is the daughter of Chuck Alkire and Dana Meissner and was born at Garden Park General Hospital in Anaheim, California. My mom is the oldest sister to Charlie and Amber. In her early years she lived in Diamond Bar where she would often be found telling the neighbors and her friends her name was “Fancy.” In 6th grade her and her family moved to Alta Loma where she lived the remainder of her life. After graduating from Alta Loma High School she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Cal Poly Pomona. After college, my mom began a very successful career in the insurance industry. She spent the last 20 years working for XDimensional Technologies where she met many amazing coworkers that became lifelong friends.
My mom met my dad, Jim, at a New Years Eve party in downtown Upland. After receiving her phone number that night, he took several days to call because he lost the paper which had her phone number written on it. Thank goodness he found the number and finally called her, or else I wouldn't be here today. My mom and my dad married in September of 2001 which gained her a step-son, my brother Sam. Thanksgiving of 2003 I popped out of the oven instead of a turkey.
Probably the most remembered thing about my mom is her laugh. No matter who I meet, her laugh is always a topic of conversation. She loved her friends and family. Everyone who knows her knows her love for music and going to concerts. My mom had some of the best dance moves, I’m sure my Aunt Amber and Uncle Charlie would demonstrate them for you. As I already mentioned about my mom calling herself “fancy”, she lived up to this nickname by always having the most fashionable clothes, shoes, purses, and jewelry. She would always dress me up when I was little and continued to try to dress me fancy as I got older.
My mom loved the beach. She loved it so much, her dream was to one day retire and move to the beach. Some of my fondest memories with her were going on our beach vacations to Surf and Sand in Laguna or Hawaii. On one of our trips, I remember a big wave knocked both of us over which caused us to knock into a couple behind us. I will forever remember the times I had with my mom just chilling in the ocean on inner tubes talking and admiring the beautiful scenery.
I have so many memories with my mom that I will hold very tightly to my heart. She was the best mom a daughter could ask for. I know she loved me very much and will always be with me. I will miss her so much. I have comfort in knowing that my mom knew and loved Jesus. I am confident she is with him now.
