"The Jessica Ann Moore Foundation (formerly the Drop Out to Degree Program), a non-profit organization, has purchased the Annie B. Jackson Elementary School located at 408 School Street, Waverly, VA 23890.

 The building will be will be converted into a Community Center for the County of Sussex, VA.  It will host various educational and recreational activities.  In addition, the Town of Waverly will be given an opportunity to use the Center as an Emergency Shelter, the town currently does not have an Emergency Shelter.

 The Town of Waverly, VA was devastated by a Tornado with winds gusting to 60 mph.  "A 2-year-old child and two men, ages 26 and 50, were killed there during the storm. Their bodies were found approximately 300 yards from their mobile home.
