James’s Top Surgery Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Hi friends!

As I’m sure many (if not all) of you know, my name is James, I use they/he pronouns, and I’ve been out as trans and non-binary for 4 years now. Top surgery is something I’ve wanted in one way or another since I had anything there to remove. Even before I knew I was trans, I would secretly dream of a life post-op. Not only does my chest cause massive gender dysphoria, it has also been a large factor in much of the chronic back pain I’ve experienced for most of my life. Getting this surgery will change things for the better in so many ways. Fortunately, there is not much longer to wait! I was approved for surgery with a surgeon I really like, and it’s scheduled for April 24th, 2023!!

I am very lucky to have good insurance through my parents, so the cost of surgery itself is thankfully not a barrier for me, but there are many costs associated with recovery that I do need help being able to cover. I will be out of work for 2-4 weeks, and I will still need to be able to pay for living expenses like food and bills, not to mention any more specific aftercare products I will need, like medications and scar care. As someone who has been managing chronic health conditions for the past few years, and therefore have only been able to work part time at most, I have not had the opportunity to save for these expenses on my own. Obviously there is absolutely no obligation to donate, but I would be extremely grateful to any of you who are willing and able to do so.

In the case that there are any funds donated past what I need for recovery, it would go towards legally changing my first name. I have been going by James for two years now, but I have yet to have the money to be able to change it legally. If somehow there’s still money left after all of that, it would be donated to another trans person in need of surgery funds, because above all else I believe in community care.

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this, if you can’t donate but would still like to help, I would love it if you could share this with anyone you know who may be able to. To those of you who donate, I will never be able to thank you enough. I am eternally grateful for your support. And to those who can’t, I am equally as grateful for you! Non-monetary support is just as valuable to me, if not more so. So thank you all, truly and deeply. I would not be where I am today without you. I love you all, so much.
