Hi, my name is Asia Summers, and I’m raising funds to help cover out-of-pocket medical expenses for my son, James Summers Jr.
James has loved playing soccer since he was seven years old. Though he took some time off, he returned to the sport in the Fall of 2024 with Kirkwood Sports, where he’s always found so much joy. This past season was especially meaningful because he got to play alongside his best friend for what will be their last year together in the same school.
Unfortunately, on June 24th, James suffered a serious injury during a game and broke two bones in his leg: his tibia and fibula. Initially, his medical team hoped he could avoid surgery with a closed reduction. However, on July 9th, we were informed that the tibia was shifting and required surgical intervention. On July 10th, nails had to be inserted to hold the bone in place.
James now faces months of physical therapy to regain strength in his leg. And because he’s only 11 and still growing, he will need another surgery in 6 to 9 months to have the nails removed.
We’re incredibly thankful to have health insurance, but even with coverage, the surgeries, follow-up appointments, and therapy have led to significant out-of-pocket expenses. Through it all, James has remained positive and determined. He can’t wait to get back on the field.
We’re humbly asking for any financial support you feel led to give as we navigate these unexpected costs. Every donation, no matter the size, helps lighten the burden and brings us closer to James’ full recovery.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. We truly appreciate it.
