Corporal James-Lewis Hagler of the Gregg County Sheriff's Department was diagnosed with Covid-19 on December 21, 2020. After fighting the virus for 7 days, his oxygen dipped to dangerous levels and he was admitted to CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Hospital December 28, 2020.
During his uphill battle, he has had some setbacks that have effected his recovery and is currently on day 10 in the ICU on a ventilator. He has since developed ARDS, which will add time to his recovery.
James-Lewis has been with the Gregg Co Sheriff's Department for 6 years. He is the husband of Shallon Lasseigne Hagler, whom he met while she was also an employee with the County. They have 4 children, Logan, Lacey, Laney, and Layla. They are a one income family, as Shallon has returned to school to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice.
Since he is unable to work, and with no real timeline or estimate on his recovery, we are reaching out to family, friends, the community where he grew up, and to the community he now serves, for help. We are hoping, with your help, we can at least ease some of the financial stresses that have, and will arise, with utilities, day to day life, and upcoming medical bills.
We have been told his recovery should not be compared to a sprint, but to a marathon, and during this marathon, we are hoping to help his family as much as possible.
