James' brain surgery
Donation protected
Last year after several months of being extremely ill with many debilitating symptoms, James had an MRI performed where it was discovered he had a large benign meningioma (brain tumor about the size of a lemon) on his frontal cortex of his brain. The surgeons said the tumor was likely growing for many years but only now presenting symptoms which would quickly get worse and more severe. Upon the diagnosis he was rushed to the hospital emergency room and just 2 days later surgery was performed to remove the tumor.
Thankfully the surgery was successful and James is cancer free and has been recovering very well over this past year. However, frequent follow ups are required to make sure the tumor does not return and to address any symptoms that could arise in the future and the possibility of additional surgeries.
During this extremely difficult time in our lives, James and I were without health insurance for a brief time and waiting for our new insurance to become active just a few weeks after the surgery took place. Since the surgery was deemed urgent we were unable to wait for our new health insurance to become active; therefore, all medical expenses relating to the surgery are currently being paid out of pocket depleting our savings and resources. As a result, the surgery which was a blessing and life saving, has become a large financial burden as bills from the surgeons, hospital, ER, neurologists and multiple doctors has accumulated in excess of 200K, presenting us with a huge financial challenge.
James is a very private person about matters like this, and even though a fundraiser was initially suggested by friends and family to cover medical expenses he preferred not to do so, hoping to handle the situation privately and was reluctant to put anything on social media. However, as time has passed the financial burden has become too great to manage ourselves, so we decided to move forward with this campaign to help such a kind and deserving man as he has always been there to help those in need. Thank you all for your generosity & support.
