Dana's Race for a Cause
Donation protected

I completed my first marathon in 2011 to raise funds for congenital heart disease research. This is a cause close to my heart as my son James who is now eight years old was born with a complex single ventricle heart defect. He has survived three open heart surgeries and a battle with Burkitt's Lymphoma. Throughout his chemo treatments, the heart doctors monitored him closely and we are so happy that his heart stayed strong through it all. He is now 1 1/2 years cancer free! James's heart will never be whole but with continued funding for heart research, we can keep his heart strong for a long, long time before the need for a heart transplant. That is why I am asking you to support me in my fifth marathon on October 25th. We are headed out to Washington D.C. to run in the Marine Corps Marathon. With your support, I know we can get to $2,000 and put this amount in James's name for heart research at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Very little federal funding goes towards heart research so I am hoping you will support us and so many others that currently live with heart disease. Thank you for your support! I couldn't do this without all of you! Love, Dana
