Help Me Represent England at International Volleyball Tournaments
Hi, I’m James Cox. I’m 17, and I’ve been selected for the England U20 and U22 Men’s Volleyball squads. I’m raising funds to help cover the cost of playing for my country this summer.
Playing volleyball at this level is a huge honour — but it’s also very expensive. Unlike many other sports, representing England in volleyball is largely self-funded. That means the cost of competing internationally falls heavily on players and their families.
I train three times a week with my club, Newcastle Staffs Volleyball Club, where I play for both the U18s and the Men’s 1st Team. I also train regularly with both England squads and spend time in the gym working on strength and conditioning to stay at my best.
This summer, I’ve been given some amazing opportunities to play and train at international level:
- England U22 Team – CEV Tournament in Italy (£1,816)
- England U19 Team – NEVZA Championships in the Faroe Islands (expected to be over £1,000)
- England North Training Camp – training and playing at Waremme, a club in the top division of volleyball in Belgium (£400)
The total cost for these three international events comes to over £3,200 — as a 17-year-old A-level student, this financial burden falls squarely on my parents. Can you help?
I love this sport and I’m incredibly proud to wear an England shirt. Your support would allow me to compete against the best young players in Europe and continue my development as an international athlete.
Any contribution — no matter how small — would make a huge difference.
Thank you so much for reading — it honestly means the world.
James
