RockinR Gaming for Manchester children’s hospital

Do you want to join us in making a difference?

We are taking on the challenge of a life time. In November 2021 we will travel to Jordan in the middle east and spend 7 days trekking through the amazing Wadi Rum desert and ending our adventure at the incredible ancient city of Petra. Along the way we will also make our way to the summit of Jordan's Highest peak - Jebal Um Adaami (1832m)  The trip is self funded so all money we raise will go direct to the charity.

Our aim is to raise enough money to purchase a specially designed gaming station(s)  for Royal Manchester children's hospital

The station will be purchased from an amazing charity named TheRockinR .

Every donation will help so please dig deep and give what you can afford no matter how small of a donation they will all add up, pennies make £££££'s.

About the Gaming Station.

The aim of the stations is to provide children, young persons and their families coping tools, by means of interactive gaming equipment. To offer a distraction to their illness and to help relieve stress and anxiety. To give a sense of normality, belonging and maintain experiences that produce joy and happiness for families and patients spending time in hospital.

It is specially designed and also approved by the NHS.  It can be used both in communal area's of the ward and for those children who are unable to leave their bed it is designed to work over their bed space.

Here is a Video which shows the impact they can have, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PofPVtgCQz0&feature=youtu.be

And this is a link to the charity who will supply it https://therockinr.org.uk/

This is what it looks like. It comes pre-loaded with the latest games and as it is covered by a 5 year warranty we know thousands of children will get the benefit of it :-)

EDIT.........

Our original aim was to purchase one of these for Ward 78.  However, as the trip was delayed due to Covid we are now pushing to raise enough money to purchase three. So please give what you can to help us make a difference.

                                                                     ****************************************************************************

The first gaming station will be for ward 78, once we hit the amount we need for one

The ward offers tertiary services in neurosurgery, neurology, orthopaedics, complex spines and complex ENT. They don't just support the local community they have children from all over the UK who need the specialist treatment they can offer.

Undergoing medical treatment can often be a scary & isolating experience, especially for young patients. Even more so when they have serious illness's to deal with.

Many of the children on this ward are unable to leave their bed and in quite a few cases are long term inpatients.

Hopefully we can raise enough money to provide some distraction for them.

The Second gaming station will be for ward 85.

The ward looks  after patients across a number of specialties, Cardiology, Cystic Fibrosis, Immunology, Endocrinology, Metabolic, Respiratory and Rheumatology

The majority of our patients come from the North West of England. However, due to the specialties that we have on the ward we also have patients from elsewhere in the UK and sometimes from other countries.

The 3rd is not yet planned we’ll discuss with the wards if we hit that target

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means a lot to us.
