Support James while healing from a Traumatic Brain Injury

Graduation May 2022

James Wheeler is my Youngest Son, he was in a serious Motor Vehicle Accident on 10/14/2024 in Bellingham Washington. James was life flighted to Harborview (Trauma) Hospital in Seattle and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. He had emergency brain surgery and was in the ICU until 10/19.

Family and Friends filled the Waiting Room from his Hometown in Idaho and from Alaska and Washington State. I was so terrified because I really didn’t have much knowledge about TBI’s. All I wanted was to get to Seattle asap. I had to make arrangements for my Special Needs Adult Son and our Pets. I arrived 2 days after the Accident when James has regained consciousness. He has continued to make progress but the road ahead is unclear at this time.

James was released from Harborview on 10/21, (too soon). Both my Ex husband and I left Seattle thinking that he would be alright. However, on 10/22 James had increased pain and pressure in his head and felt very nauseated. One of the brain bleeds wasn’t stopping on its own. So James was medivaced back to Harborview Trauma Center for treatment after being seen at the local Bellingham Hospital.

James has been in the Neuro ICU since 10/22 early morning and is being carefully monitored. My Ex/Husband and I get daily updates from his Team since we both live in different States than James. He’s having difficulty with his speech and speaking on and off. James is being monitored carefully to ensure he’ll be ready to be discharged in the coming days. I’ve been so afraid of potential issues because of his injuries.

It’s been really hard on him and for all of his /our Families and Friends that love James. His Girlfriend has been by his side through out his Hospitalization and I’m very thankful for her. It was super hard not being able to be there for the 2nd Hospitalization. I couldn’t easily leave again with little notice. We’ve been having FaceTime daily.

James was transferred to Acute Care on 10/26 and he was discharged from Harborview on 10/27. James and his Girlfriend returned back their home. We continue to have Daily FaceTime.

James will have to return to Harborview in four weeks for repeat CAT scans and follow up with the Neurosurgeon.

All of the donations will go directly to James to assist him with his Living Expenses/Truck payments/Insurance, while recovering ❤️‍ … James will be transitioning back into full time employment eventually, however, Brain injuries take time to heal. Currently it’s unclear how long it will be.

Please share with your Friends and their Friends. To make it affordable for giving, I’m asking for $20 donations from 215 different People. I’ve reached 14% of my Goal for James and working towards reaching 100%. Thank you kind loving Souls for making a huge difference in James’s Recovery ❤️‍

I deeply appreciate your support while James navigates through this Healing process ❤️‍
James and I are deeply grateful for Your Generosity and for Supporting his Recovery ❤️‍ …
Sincerely,
Julia Wheeler, James’s Mom
