On Sept 11th 2020, James Tarrant arrived on scene to clear a large fallen tree that had already crushed four cars. Unfortunately whilst working on the tree it collapsed further pinning James to the floor and giving him serious injuries - crushed pelvis and all manner of internal injuries.
You can read about his accident on the itv news.
He was rushed to Southampton General Hospital where he spent time in intensive care with round the clock care and observations. He was then transferred to Poole Hospital where he has remained for just over a month now, but is about to come home!! To enable him to come home, what has become known as Phase 1 house modifications have to be made. This weekend a team are building a stud wall and making a new doorway in order to create a downstairs bedroom for James suitable for his wheelchair, hospital bed and other equipment.

Whilst these first modifications are great and will allow James to return home, they are not enough for a real recovery. There is no downstairs bathroom with a toilet or shower, and to create a bedroom we have stolen the dining room.
This appeal is to try and raise money for Phase 2 - draft plans have been drawn up and are shown below. This extension would be life changing, not just during the recovery but for the long term creating an open plan kitchen and dining area. Also including a permanent double bedroom downstairs as well as a new family bathroom in part of the current kitchen.

James, Ruth and their FIVE!! children have lived in this '3' bed house for 20yrs, and with this appeal we hope to raise funds towards this project and enable them to create a space that allows James to make a recovery, and beyond that a great space for the whole family.
I have set an arbitrary target for this fund at this stage - we are about to get quotes from builders, start the planning permission exercise and begin the next stage of this journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read about this appeal, and thank you for your generosity. The family have already been blown away by the love and care that has been shown. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
