On May 13, 2025, our lives changed in an instant. James suffered a massive stroke that left him fighting for his life. He lost the ability to walk, talk, and even breathe on his own due to the hemorrhaging in his brain. Three days later, he had a second stroke requiring emergency surgery to remove a portion of his skull to manage the swelling and bleeding in his brain. We didn’t know if he would survive.

James is a miracle. Every day since he has shown incredible strength. Over the last few months, he has been in a variety of hospitals working on his recovery. There have been good days, a few setbacks, and some full of progress that his doctors never thought would be possible.

Today, James is fully breathing on his own and no longer needs a feeding tube. He is working hard daily to regain his speech and movement with the most work required to strengthen the left side of his body through speech, occupational, and physical therapy at a neurological rehabilitation facility in Houston, TX.

Now after 4 months in different hospitals and rehabs it’s time to bring him home for the next phase of his recovery. This next phase requires our humbleness in asking for help as James still has a long road to regain his strength and independence. We need to cover the cost of medical transport, home modifications like ramps, and specialized equipment so James can continue his recovery surrounded by the love of family.
