James Smart memorial

Wendy Smart is a warm and wonderfully well respected member of our community who selflessly gives up hours and hours of her time volunteering for many organisations online, and in person, despite running her own child minding business and also bringing up her children. Wendy recently lost her 18 year old son, Jamie, very suddenly and unexpectedly.
As such, Wendy will not be able to work for a while, while she comes to terms with her loss and takes the time to gently take Jamie’s siblings through the process of grief. On top of this, having to fund an unexpected funeral is an added strain no-one wishes to bear.
As parents, friends and colleagues or people who have just felt the pain of this situation, we wish to raise funds for Wendy and her family. Whilst we cannot alleviate her grief at least we can attempt to alleviate the added financial strain in some way.
If ever you have felt Wendy’s support, kind ear, gentle nurturing or warm humorous distraction, we would appreciate your support. We would like to raise these funds by Friday 17th May so Wendy can at least attend to Jamie’s funeral without financial worry and be free to grieve without distraction.
To be clear and due to it’s sensitive nature we have approached Wendy, and although overwhelmed at our suggestion, as receiving is not in her nature, she has given permission for us to proceed with this page.
As parents, friends and colleagues, we are so grateful for your support. Wendy, we want you know that we stand with you and we hold our dear ones a little closer knowing that the loss of a child is a pain no parent should bear.
