James Skinner
Donation protected
James was injured in surgery in 2011 leaving him with a devastating breathing condition. There is NO cure, but injections provide a temporary reduction in breathing difficulty. James is supposed to have these injections at least every 3 months but has struggled to get them regularly from the Nova Scotia healthcare system. He has only been given the injections 3 times in the past 4 years. Due to this inability to get regular care, it is recommended that he get a more permanent solution of implants. He must go to Stanford University in California for these. The first step is an initial consultation on November 29 to explore the possibility, develop a plan, and determine the costs of reconstructive nasal turbinate implants.
MSI refused to pay for diagnoses, injections, or implants related to this condition. Given that James has been on disability since the injury in 2011, he can not afford this and needs help covering the costs of flight, accommodations, and the cost of the consult. This is just a first step and will require a second larger trip for the actual surgery.
