James Shaver Memorial Fund

Dear Family and Friends,

We lost a great man this weekend. James Shaver was one-of-a-kind and his tragic and sudden loss leaves so many stunned and heartbroken.

James, 39, spent the few weeks of his life in the hospital and hospice care, in a coma following cardiac arrest – a devastating event whose cause is still unclear and will likely never be understood. James, with his wife Julie by his side, held on long enough for close family and friends to say goodbye.

James was a loving, generous and loyal husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, cousin, friend and dog dad; for those who had the privilege of knowing him, he is irreplaceable and there are no words to describe the hole we feel in our hearts.

We are creating this memorial fund to help his loving wife, Julie, pay down the medical expenses associated with this tragic event and provision of comfortable end of life care.  As many of you know, James had Type 1 Diabetes and was unable to secure life insurance.  As a school teacher, Julie dedicates her life to others. Like James, she brings joy and love to all those around her. Julie and James had the love story most only dreamed of and were loved so deeply and fully by so many. Those of us who were lucky enough to know them got to see it firsthand. Below is Julie’s beautiful tribute to James.

Please donate any amount that you can. Every dollar we raise will help ease the stress of the financial burden for Julie during this devastating time. We realize these are difficult times for everybody. Your generosity and kindness are appreciated more than you know.

 Gratefully,

Family and Friends of James and Julie

This guy, right here- my world, my person, my other half, my love, my husband, my best friend, my heart, my rock, my confidant, my partner, my everything, the guy I love more than anything, left this earth early yesterday morning. My sweet James was way too young and I’m beyond heartbroken, devastated, angry, lost, terrified... really the words to describe how I feel do not exist. He was such an incredible person and did not deserve this. I keep waking up hoping this has been a terrible nightmare, but then it hits me hard all over again. My heart hurts. I am not sure I will ever understand how this happens to someone like him.
James was loving, thoughtful, caring, funny, generous, kind, supportive, loyal, encouraging, passionate, trustworthy, strong, and loyal. He gave everyone and everything he cared about his all. He was truly the best husband, doggy daddy, friend, brother, son, uncle, grandson, nephew, and cousin to all our families and friends.
James and I have been together almost fourteen years now, and happily married for six of those. My time with him has been the happiest times of my life. He made me feel so loved and so happy all the time, we were perfect together. We have so many incredible memories together, both big and small, from everyday moments to big events. I am beyond lucky to call him my husband. We had so many more plans and deserve more together. I miss him like crazy already. I would do anything to have him back in my arms right now. Writing this post is extremely difficult, just don’t know how to go on.
Babe, Til death do us part wasn’t long enough. I love you now and forever, my husband, my love.
