My name is Greg Weihl . You simply must meet my brother from another mother James Reynolds. I met James 2 weeks ago as I was admitted to the University of Michigan Hospital System for treatment of end-stage heart failure. It took us about 5 minutes to become friends for life. James is a good soul with a great outlook on life. I don't know how I could have made it through the last two weeks without his camaraderie, encouragement and love. The fates have been kind to me and I have been accepted into a program to bridge to heart transplant with a heart pump called an LVAD (left ventricle assistive device) I have a shot at a normal life in a couple of years. Sadly, James does not.
You see James is even sicker than me. Other health conditions like diabetes and his state of health have eliminated him from the heart transplant program. One treatment that can help extend his quality and quantity of life is kidney dialysis. But there's a catch. His kidneys are still functioning so he doesn't qualify as a chronic kidney dialysis patient he can't just go to a local clinic and get treated 3 times a week for 4 hours at a stretch. He has to be put on a special program for acute kidney failure and treated here at the University of Michigan Health System. The problem is the James lives in Monroe with his wifeTonia and his sons Cody and Chris. Tonia works a full time job and raises his two sons. They have one working vehicle. The logistics make it nearly impossible for James to get to the University of Michigan three times a week for four hours at a time for his treatments. Because of his illness he has lost his cleaning business and because of his frequency of hospitalization is unable to find steady work.
My goal with this fundraising campaign is to raise enough money so that James can get basic transportation to get himself to and from his kidney dialysis treatments. The world needs James to stay for a bit longer. I need James in my life for as long as I can keep him here. Any & every kindness you can show will help. If you can afford to help, I thank you for your generous donation. If you can't I would appreciate it if you could pass this on to your friends, your church, your inner circle, so that we can find James a ride and keep another wonderful soul on this planet for as long as we can.
