James Quattlebaum - Olympic Trials 2021

Greenville local James Quattlebaum has qualified for the 2021 USA Olympic Trials in the 3000 meter Steeplechase.
James grew up running and has continued this passion throughout his entire life. He has a long list of running achievements that started as a 7th grader while attending Christ Church. His running career didn't stop there. While attending Clemson University ( GO TIGERS!) he made All-Conference and stamped his name on the Tigers Top 10 All-Time Performance list. One year after graduating with a bachelor's in business, James decided to focus on one of the most iconic race distances ever, the 1 mile.
In 2019, James toed the line at the Sir Walter Miler and broke the illusive 4 min barrier in a time of 3:58.62, becoming the 543rd American to ever do so. In 2020, his training shifted to the popular marathon distance. After months of dedicated training James ran a 1:03 half marathon qualifying for the 2020 USA Olympic Marathon Trials. While this was a great experience, his passion and focus was still on the track. With a small window to qualify for track trials, James started working with a hurdle coach to fine tune his jumping abilities. Then it happened, all the pieces came together on May 15th 2021. James hit the qualifying standard to compete at this year's Olympic Track Trials.
James is headed to one of the most prestigious tracks in the world to compete among the best in the nation.
This fundraiser will help pay for the travel expenses to make the cross country trip to Tracktown Town USA, Eugene, OR.
