First I wanna introduce myself, My name is Desiree Chapman and I am the niece of James Pertee. A few days ago my uncle fell ill, he waited a few days to see if he would get better but just progressively got worse, he was admitted yesterday into the hospital with a blood sugar soaring above 500, he has never been a diabetic up until this event. His kidneys were starting to shut down along with the rest of his body, he is very ill, still very confused and has a long road ahead of him. My aunt Yvonne is dealing with so much, trying to take care of their family, as well as working a full time job due to Covid-19 precautions she’s unable to visit her husband of 37 years, they will be married 38 February the 26th. From the looks of James diagnosis with it being much more than his kidneys and blood sugar, he is on antibiotics to treat pneumonia, we are still waiting on results, he is unable to walk, stand or use the restroom by himself. He is in for a long haul to recovery. Until this week James has worked a full time job at Buddy’s Pizza for 15 years, he was the sole provider for his family, money is tight right now on everyone and I understand the hardships people are going through, However We do not fully understand the damages that this DKA, metabolic acidosis and lactic acidosis have caused, with him being unable to stand, walk or do anything independently as of now, we are possibly seeing a wheelchair and a ramp needed for his coming home. With James being unable to work, his wife my aunt Yvonne will be solely responsible for bills and the upkeep of their younger son and home. We appreciate everything in advance, and sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
