My partner James Ariel Potok lost his battle with addiction and tragically passed away on October 2, 2025, though his light and memory will forever live on through those who knew and loved him dearly and fiercely.
James was special. He was kind, loving, funny, intelligent, charismatic, and musically gifted with a larger than life personality and someone who loved to make other people laugh and smile.
Before he passed, while he was fighting his addiction he had dreams and hopes of making a difference through sharing his story and struggles through creating recovery based music, to inspire him on his recovery journey and others who might share the same struggles.
Though James fought as long as he could, and unfortunately wasn’t able to see his recovery through to the other side, I know he wanted to be a voice and light for others in recognizing the epidemic of addiction and the destigmatization of addiction as well.
My hope and goal is to raise funds that can contribute to those who find themselves struggling and lack the resources they need for their own path to recovery. As this was something that significantly contributed to James’ passing as well.
James wanted to heal himself, and pursue a meaningful life that would help “heal the world” (which he got tattooed on his heart just prior to his passing.)
My Hope is that in fundraising, that hope he had can to some extent come to life posthumously, and that his legacy be remembered and carried on for those who share his earthly struggles.
For those of you who contribute, thank you so much and know that James smiles down with love and gratitude too.
G*d bless.
