The Carter Family

On July 26, 2023, tragedy struck The Carter Family. While not yet on the clock, James Carter, Sr., was in route to work when he was in an almost fatal crash with a dumpster truck. The accident resulted in James Sr. being admitted to a Trauma hospital for a total of 27 days, of which 12 were spent on a ventilator. While under, James, Sr underwent five surgeries to address internal bleeding from tears in several of his organs, including his liver, two breaks in his left femur, four fractures in his pelvis, and ligament injuries in his left hand. With God’s grace, the trauma doctors and staff were able to successfully complete each of the surgeries. On the 27th day of the hospital stay, James Sr. was discharged with an external pelvis fixator, and confined to a hospital bed due to his non-weight-bearing condition. The external pelvis fixator cannot be considered for removal any earlier than late November of 2023.

James Sr.’s wife, JoJo, has been by his side since the date of the accident advocating for her husband. She has also had to remain seeing about their 14-year-old son. She has been out of work since the accident in order to fulfill the daily task of caring for her husband, which includes physical care, emotional care, advocacy care, etc.

Their son has just begun his high school journey and is living his dream of being a part of the band. While this is life-changing for him, his parents encourage him to strive in school. They simply want him to have the same wonderful high school experience as they did.

THE CHALLENGE:
James Sr. is expected to undergo two more surgeries over the next few months, which will then be followed by intense physical therapy and rehabilitation. He is expected to be out of work for no less than a full year; however, the hardship the family faces as it relates to medical treatment, medical bills, living expenses, traveling for medical appointments, etc., has overwhelmed an already heavy circumstance. While The Carter Family is holding firm in their faith and are holding on to one another, we could allow room for healing upon this family if we could contribute to their needs during this trying time.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
We kindly ask that you consider donating to The Carter Family’s GoFundMe and share the page with your friends and family. In doing so, you will assist in James Sr.’s healing and ensure his road to normalcy is consistent and steadfast. In addition, you would allow stability for his wife and son to remain intact during this difficult time.

Thank you for your compassion, and generosity. May the Lord bless you all
