It’s a day you hope doesn’t ever happen, but it happened to one of our own.
On March 27, Kelly Card, one of the brightest smiles you’ll see at our front desk in Hamlin, learned her husband wouldn’t be making it home that night. James, or Jimmy as those who knew him best, was in a tragic, fatal car accident on his way home from work.
In these few long days, lots of people have reached out, wondering, sincerely, how they can show their love and support for James’s wife Kelly, and his children Raven and Riley.
We don’t know how to answer that question. Kelly, her kids, and their families probably don’t either. There's still lots they're trying to make sense of.
Grief brings many things. Sadness, reflection, anxiety, concern, but it shouldn’t bring worry. So, at this time, if you are looking to support Kelly and her family, and you are able, please consider donating to the family through this GoFundMe campaign so they can focus on their hearts, their health, and their healing. This money will go towards funeral expenses, and his family; their intentions for the life they imagined together, and the life they work to find in his absence.
In addition to being a loving husband and father, James had an incredible relationship with his family, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was loved by many and always made them laugh. He worked hard and was known for making a hard days work fun for his coworkers. Jimmy loved animals, especially his reptiles. A handyman, he enjoyed woodworking. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. And he really loved his girls and family.
The family will receive friends on Monday April 3rd from 4- 7 pm, closing with a memorial service held at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale. In the meantime, share your memories of James below. And please consider donating today, and share it with your village. We always need each other. And right now Kelly and her family, need you.
