James Hutcheson Ski Accident Fundraiser
Don protégé
On Monday, March 25th, as James and his dad were enjoying a wonderful morning skiing, he came over a hump and was confronted with two skiers that had stopped on the run. Faced with hitting them, he opted to quickly turn right to avoid the collision. He lost control and hit a tree full force with his legs. Ski patrol got him off the mountain to a waiting ambulance. X Rays showed James had broken his femur in three places on his left leg, crushed his knees and damaged his pelvic and hip bones. On his right side, his knee had dislocated and damaged the blood vessel that delivers blood to the lower leg, he damaged his hip and pelvic bones on that side also. Upon reading the X-Rays, James was airlifted to Kootenai Health in Coeur D Alene where he is receiving care. On Monday they placed a titanium rod in his left leg to repair the three compound fractures to his femur and did a blood vessel bypass to regain blood flow to his lower right leg. On Friday, he had surgeries to repair his hips and pelvic bones. In the weeks to come he will have reconstructive surgery on both knees. Then it will be months of rehab and PT. Upon hearing this news James' four-year-old niece Clementine said, “Uncle James will be alright because he is Strong and Brave!” We would like to add he is Strong, Brave and Positive! His attitude through this life changing event has been inspiring. The road forward is going to be long and hard. Medical bills will be astronomical, and it will be a long time before James will be able to return to his two jobs. These funds will be used to help
maintain James’ monthly bills until he is able to return to work. Thoughts, prayers and positive energy are welcomed. Please help share this with friends and family.
