Dear Friends and Community,

Many of you know James Horton, affectionately called “Hort Dog” on the football field, as a man with a big smile, an even bigger heart, and an unwavering dedication to those around him. A few months ago, James suffered a severe spinal injury while running his business as an independent operator. This life-altering injury has left him hospitalized, undergoing surgeries and heavy sedation as part of his ongoing treatment.

The Horton Family and Friends have been deeply moved by the outpouring of prayers, visits, and unwavering support from the community. The hospital waiting room is often filled with loved ones, a testament to how many lives James has touched. His journey ahead is challenging, with more medical hurdles to overcome, but his strength, faith, and fighting spirit continue to inspire us all.

James’s wife, Freda, and family members from as far as Texas and other parts of the country, have been by his side every step of the way. This experience has brought emotional and financial strain, yet the Horton family remains proud and humble, never quick to ask for help.

James is known for being the first to lend a hand, give from his own resources, and uplift others in their time of need. If you’ve ever encountered his kindness, you know the depth of his character. However, now is our opportunity to come together and support James and his family during this difficult time.

While James may resist this kind of gesture, his community’s love and support will show him just how much he means to us. Any contribution, large or small, will make a meaningful difference in helping with medical expenses and the financial impact of his recovery.

As it says in Proverbs 11:25: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
