Help James go to Oxford School of Drama!

Hi there! My name is James Butterfield. After a decade of persistent dedication, I've been accepted onto the One Year Course for Acting at the Oxford School of Drama. This is a huge step towards my lifelong dream of becoming a professional actor.
However, a significant financial hurdle is ahead of me. The course tuition is £19,000. I have an advanced learner loan (ALL) from the government of around £7,000, however, this is applied directly to tuition and is paid to the school. Alongside this, I have some personal savings from years of full-time work but I still face a substantial shortfall for the remaining tuition and essential living costs.
I am from a working-class background in Manchester, and I've poured my heart and soul into theatre since I was seven years old. I started with youth theatre’s, acting classes, took a BTEC in Performing Arts at Pendleton Sixth Form and was even apart of the first Northern Cohort of Open Door. To continuously hone my craft and share my passion, I co-founded two theatre companies, "Switch_MCR" and "Hung Theatre," with fellow artists from the Royal Exchange’s Young Company. Both companies champion accessibility and new writing, and I've consistently written and performed in our productions.
Studying at Oxford School of Drama isn't just about gaining a qualification; it's about transforming a lifelong pursuit into a sustainable career. Your support will directly fund my tuition and living expenses, removing the financial barrier that threatens to derail this incredible opportunity. I've never given up on this dream, and with your help, I can finally make it a reality.
The video on this page features one of my audition monologues for Oxford School of Drama, from Duncan MacMillan's "Lungs", which is one of my faves!
