It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loved one, James E. DeOrsey Jr., this past Sunday, May 4th, 2025. Jim DeOrsey was a well-known figure in the Blackstone Valley area, having owned/operated "Jim's Texaco" and "DeOrsey's Garage" which later turned into "Jim's Auto Service" located in South Grafton, MA, for over 40 years. Jim loved working on cars (although he would never admit it), and he loved to have a good time. Back in the day, you would often find him at popular local establishments such as Rick's Hilltop, The Klondike, The Polish Club, The South Grafton VFW "aka the bunkahh," or in the back bay of his garage with his closest friends. He loved the community in which he was born and raised, that he always referred to as "Sunny South Grafton 01560." If there was one word you could use to describe him, he was a very solid individual. A brutally honest (no filter just like his beloved mother) and hardworking man sometimes customers would laughably refer to him as "Honest Jim". We learn that more and more each day after meeting and talking to people who have shared memories and done business with him. No matter if you were a new customer off the street or a loyal customer who had been coming to him for years, people could always trust Jim to give them an honest and thorough assessment of their vehicle along with a fair and reasonable price to fix it. If you were a loyal customer of his, he would do whatever he could to accommodate you, whether that was a ride back home, a delivery when the vehicle was completed, or a simple payment arrangement during tough times. He took care of his people and would do anything in his power to help them. He lived his life to the fullest, touched many of peoples lives, and created memories that will never be forgotten. He was quite the presence, often referred to as "Big Jim" he always had something comical to say. Although over time his health started to decline, he always seemed to battle through. Unfortunately, this past Sunday, after gathering at his home, we realized he had passed away peacefully.
Not only did this happen unexpectedly, but it happened during an already very difficult time for our family. With term policies ending last year and final expense policies no longer in place, this has become a major obstacle we have to face. We do not think anything would be more meaningful to him than to be buried on a plot at Fairview Cemetary with a beautiful monument in his name alongside his beloved family. Services will be open to the public and held Friday May 16th 2025 at Fairview Cemetary next to Jim's parents site while arrangements are being made for a separate plot with monument. Following the services all are welcome to a celebration of life gathering at the Sutton American Legion Dudley Gendron Post
