James Cooper Jones II

James Jones was a father, a husband, a friend and a colleague. James left this world way too early on August 17, 2022. He leaves behind an amazing wife, Alicia Jones, and three beautiful, loving children, Sophia, Payton and Greyson.
I am Erik Jones and I have been James's friend, colleague and boss for over ten years. James and I met when I was in charge of IT for Inflection. I was touring the customer service center we built in Omaha, NE. James was a customer service agent. Our meeting was memorable because of his charm, smile and height (6'3" to my 6'2"). A few weeks later, he reached out to his manager and asked if she would send his resume over to me so that he could start a career in IT. I interviewed him and James joined my team as the first IT engineer in our Omaha office.
During a visit to our corporate offices, I had the opportunity to meet his lovely wife, Alicia. My husband Brian and I immediately bonded with them as we all had the same sick and twisted sense of humor. This began what can only be described as a lifelong friendship. James was instrumental in helping to build my company, Jacobian Engineering, after we both left Inflection in 2014. He took a chance on me in a much larger sense and I wouldn't be where I am today without his friendship, leadership and skill. He was one of the most talented engineers I have been honored to work with.
I wish, as many do, that I could hold James and tell him it's going to be ok. No one should ever get to a point where they feel they have no way out. I'm sorry James. I'm sorry if I let you down. Like many, I will replay the past weeks repeatedly, wondering if there was something I could have done; something I could have said, or changed for you. But I can't.
What I can do is create this fund to help your family, James. The amazing and beautiful family that you created. This is a difficult and horrible time for any family and your contribution may help ease some of the stress and pain that his family faces over the coming weeks and months. Any contribution will help.
All of the proceeds will go directly to Alicia Jones to help her and their children. There is a link to the obituary below. Additional donations may be made to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) in James's name in lieu of flowers or gifts.
