James C. "JJ" Gray Jr. was a loving, caring and incredibly intelligent young man who loved his friends and family deeply. JJ was taken away from our family far too early. At the young age of 16, JJ died as a result of a senseless act of gun violence. On the evening of January 2rd, 2020, JJ was gunned down. Despite attempts to save his life, JJ was not able to survive the injuries he sustained.
JJ leaves behind a devastated family including his parents and grandparents, 3 siblings and dozens of aunts, uncles and cousins.
This loss is heartbreaking and shocking for our family. No one is prepared to lose a happy and healthy 16-year old instantly, and this loss has left us devastated in many ways. While we would love to have JJ back in our lives, all we can do now is do our best to celebrate his life and honor his memory.
We are asking for donations to help cover costs of funeral arrangements as well as to offset the financial burden that losing a child puts on a family - including meals, paperwork, time away from work, etc. Please consider donating anything you feel comfortable to help the family through this incredibly difficult time. Any and everything helps. If you feel more comfortable, you may contact family members Stephen Green ([email redacted]) or Holly Arrick ([email redacted] ; [phone redacted]) if you would like to donate in another way.
