James (Jimmy) Bushell's road to recovery

Our beloved James Bushell, or “Jimmy” as many know him, is facing the fight of his life, following a devastating incident that has left his family, friends, and the Place community heartbroken.

On his regular route to work, Jimmy was on his electric scooter on the footpath when he was struck by a car. While a driver faces multiple charges over the incident, our focus is Jimmy – his life, health, and family.

His loving wife, Miska, and three children, Joni, Sofia and Nadia are by his hospital bedside. Jimmy’s injuries are critical, and he is undergoing multiple procedures.

As you can imagine, they are wanting their hero to come home as soon as possible.

For those who know Jimmy, he has been referred to by his sisters, Cathy Bushell and Sarah Hackett as “one of the good guys”. He has worked at Place for 20 years and is a highly respected and loved member of the group and his local community.

He’s the type of son who visits his mother almost daily, a generous friend, and a valued colleague. With a focus on fitness, Jimmy is a happy-go-lucky person whose kindness radiates.

Many have asked how they can help Jimmy and his family.

We've consulted the family and we are asking our community to support the Bushells through this GoFundMe page as they face an incredibly long road to recovery with multiple medical procedures and rehabilitation expenses.

This unfortunate and unexpected event has turned the family’s life upside down; Jimmy is at the forefront of our minds, and we are praying for a speedy recovery.
