James Buchanan Celebration of Life
Donation protected
This is a lot for me, and I do not want to even have to do this, but I thought it couldn't hurt to try. I am asking for help towards expenses due to my dad's passing.
A little over a month ago my dad , James Buchanan, was hospitalized for a difficulty in breathing. They thought that he had pneumonia and COPD based on his symptoms. He had four liters of fluid buildup around his right lung trapped in his pleura membrane. They drained all the fluid and thought he was well enough to come home. He was home for about two weeks and was hospitalized again for having a difficulty in breathing. They drained another two liters and this time did a scan of his lungs. They found a mass in the bottom of his right lung. The biopsy and scans diagnosed him with stage 4 lung cancer. After this diagnosis we learned that he had 3 to 6 months to live without treatment, and 1 to 2 years with treatment. My dad did his own research and decided that he did not want to get treatment. He felt with his age he wouldn't respond well to chemo and didn't believe in autoimmune therapy. He was also told by the doctor if he doesn't respond well to treatment it could shorten his time with us. He wanted the most time with us in his best health. After refusing to do treatment he was put into home hospice. He was in home hospice for a little over two weeks before passing away. We barely had a month with my dad before losing him.
I am asking for $5,000 to help my mom with the cremation and celebration of life. This was all unexpected and we are all unprepared for the expenses that come with his loss. Anything will help, even a penny, he meant a lot to all of us.
He was an amazing father, an amazing friend, and an amazing husband. He made my mom coffee every morning, got her gas for her car, always had dinner ready when she got home from work, paid the bills, and so much more. He would build projects with my brother for school, clean and shoot guns, cook and bake together, and bond over household projects. I called him almost everyday I was off from work. We talk for hours somedays about everything. If you knew him, you knew that he could talk to you for hours about the most interesting topics in life. He was a thinker always ready to share his thoughts, and to enjoy those around him. At times it doesn’t even feel real because he was such a positive energy and his presence is still everywhere in my family's life. We love and miss him so much, and none of us thought it was going to be this soon. We appreciate any help, thank you, and God bless.
