A Life to Remember

We are heartbroken by the loss of James Brough, who died after a long struggle with addiction.

James was a fighter— he fought harder than most people will ever know. We saw it. We saw how much strength it took for him to just keep going some days. We saw him fall, and we saw him get back up-again and again.

But James was so much more than his addiction.

He was intelligent, funny, caring, and deeply loving. He made people laugh. He looked out for others, even when he was struggling himself. His life, like many who live with addiction, was full of complexity — but it was also full of meaning, connection, and love

We want to honour James not by focusing on how he died, but by remembering who he truly was. And in doing so, we hope to help others still fighting the same battles.

He was a son, a brother, a brother- in- law, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin, and a friend — and he was deeply loved in all of those roles.

In honour of his life, we are raising funds for WithYou (formerly Addaction), a UK charity that supports people facing challenges with drugs, alcohol, and mental health. Their work changes lives — helping people recover, reconnect with their families, and find hope again.

Why This Matters

Addiction touches more families than most people realise. It brings pain, but also incredible strength, compassion, and resilience. James fought hard — and we want his story to become a message of support for others still fighting.
