In Loving Memory of Brooks Griffin: Help Raise Funds for Funeral Costs and End of Life Expenses.
Dear Friends, Family and Kind-Hearted Strangers,
My beloved father, Brooks Griffin, passed away on August 2, 2025. Brooks lived a full life of kindness and optimism and brought a great deal of joy into the life of his family and friends. He will be missed. For me, his death was particularly painful since I had lost my brother, Jason in June 2020, and my mother, Ellen, In May of 2023, leaving me the last member of our nuclear family. It is heartbreaking to face so many deaths in just five years.
My dad's death was particularly sudden and unprepared for. He fell and broke his hip Christmas Eve 2024 and never really recovered. He was in several rehabilitation facilities. Durning that time, I cared for him, his home and his pets. My dad's room and board at his last boarding house for seniors was $5000.00 a month that I had to pay out of pocket due to the fact that his health insurance did not cover it.
My dad came down with a UTI infection that sadly turned septic, and his heart and kidneys were working very hard to keep him with us. Sadly, my dad's heart failed. My dad made no fiscal arrangements for me to help pay for any of his end-of-life preparations and obligations. He was living month to month on his social security checks, and those have now ended.
Brooks was a vibrant member of his Santa Cruz Mountain community. He coached for the Los Gatos Little League baseball, softball, and soccer. He was the president of the Santa Cruz Mountain Toastmaster's. He loved watching movies, playing games, singing, spending time with family, and traveling. However, his biggest passion was taking over the family's business in 1996. He and my mom moved to Dos Palos in 2021 and really enjoyed their new home.
I'm now faced with difficult task of arranging his final farewell as well as paying other end-of-life expenses. The few resources he had were spent at the care facility he was in for the last three months of his life as his health steadily declined. I am left with no financial resources and have no current income to provide for his well-deserved send-off as well other expenses related to closing down his heavily mortgaged home.
I am reaching out for support in honoring my dad, Brooks'. Please consider donating if you’re able to do so. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help alleviate the financial strain and allow me to focus on grieving and the farewell he so deserves. Please also forward this to other family and friends who might like to contribute.
Funds raised will go towards the cremation cost, burial, transportation, memorial service, and specific end-of-life expenses. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference in ensuring that my father is laid to rest with dignity and respect.
Your kindness means the world to me as I navigate through my profound grief.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
Claire Griffin
