It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our dearly loved Jamie Barrett, who died unexpectedly on October 6th. Jamie was 56 years old with such an incredible mind and soul. He served in the Army's 101st Airborne Rangers. Jamie loved jumping out of planes. He struggled with bipolar depression but never let that stop him from showing up whenever his family needed him. Jamie worked as a waiter for Dave and Buster's and put a smile on everybody's face that he met. Jamie loved to write and once won an award for his poetry! Some of it was even published! Jamie had a smile that could light up the room and one heck of an imagination. He could come up with stories and games with seemingly little effort. We were never bored when he was around. He was a loving brother to his sister Kim, a son to Aunt Janet and Uncle Jim, a nephew to Aunt Sandy, the big cousin that many of us counted on to keep our childhood interesting with games and stories, and a cherished friend to many.
His passing is going to leave a big void in our family. We are still in shock and heartbroken over the sudden unexpected passing of Jamie. None of us is prepared for the emotional burden, let alone the financial one. His parents, living in Florida, have been hit hard by hurricane costs and scammers. We're not even sure we can get them from Florida to Fairfax, Virginia where Jamie was living. The cost of a funeral is quite overwhelming for our family during this difficult time.
We would like to honor Jamie and give him the beautiful farewell he deserves. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly towards covering funeral and memorial costs as well as getting Aunt Janet and Uncle Jim up here to be a part of the ceremony. Your kindness and generosity will help us focus on grieving and honoring his memory. Thank you for your support, prayers, and for helping us during our time of need.
