James and Charli Need Your Help

In the height of the pandemic, Charli, the light-haired hound mix, made her way to New York City from a southern ranch where her owners were no longer able to care for her. Our good friend James Hansen took in this sweet pup and has given her such excellent care during his past 5 years as a dog dad.

On Monday, March 10th, Charli needed to be taken to urgent care after exhibiting some symptoms that were very abnormal. After a scan, the doctors noticed a mass on her spleen that needed to be removed and biopsied immediately. She was taken to Schwarzman Animal Medical Center and taken into surgery. The doctors say that the mass on her spleen could be cancerous, and if the tumor is malignant, then the cancer is most likely terminal. Along with the heart-wrenching news of the possible loss of a member of his family, James has also been served with an alarmingly high vet bill.

James has been a great friend, a reliable co-worker, and a loving family member to so many of us, and at this time he needs our help. If you know James and Charli, I'm sure you have seen the bond that they have, and I hope now that their community can rally around them and make a dent in this bill for a major important surgery.
