At just 39 years old, Jamelia Owens Dennis is facing the fight of her life.
In October 2024, Jamelia was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer — a diagnosis that turned her world upside down only six months after she married the love of her life. What should have been the beginning of a joyful new chapter quickly became a battle for survival.
Since her diagnosis, the cancer has spread extensively to her bones, including her spine, both hips, pelvis, sternum, rib cage, chest, and shoulder. Due to the fragility of her bones, Jamelia has already undergone major surgeries on both femurs, where rods, nails, and screws were placed to help prevent fractures and allow her to remain mobile.
She is now facing one of her most difficult challenges yet: spinal cord compression caused by a tumor on her spine. This has resulted in numbness in her lower body, weakness in her legs and feet, and the loss of her ability to walk on her own. Jamelia began this year hospitalized, where she is currently receiving radiation treatments to her spine in an effort to reduce the tumor and prevent further damage.
Her treatment journey is intense and ongoing. She is on a 21-days-on, 7-days-off chemotherapy pill regimen, receives monthly hormone injections, and was forced into early menopause to remove estrogen from her body, as her cancer feeds on it. One of the most heartbreaking losses has been the loss of her ability to have children—a grief no one should have to bear, especially so early in marriage and life.
While Jamelia continues to fight with courage and grace, the emotional, physical, and financial toll is overwhelming. Medical bills, surgeries, medications, radiation treatments, travel to appointments, loss of income, and everyday living expenses are adding up quickly. In addition, due to her spinal cord compression and mobility limitations, she is now in need of functional household support to safely accommodate her back issues and reduced ability to move independently.
We are asking for support—not just financially, but through love, prayers, and sharing Jamelia’s story. Every donation, no matter the size, helps ease the burden and allows her to focus on what matters most: fighting, healing, and living.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Jamelia in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for standing with her during this unimaginable journey.
Together, we fight. Together, we hope.
