This message is from the twins, Laila and Nader.
Our dad, Jamal, is the most well-known man in our eyes. He is the most amazing, genuine, funny, goofy, and sympathetic person to our family and everyone who surrounds us as well. Many of our friends consider him to be their second dad and many of them love to simply say hi to him, not only because he makes them feel welcome, but also because of the joy he brings to the world. This man deserves nothing but the world. He is the most caring person you will ever meet. His desire in life is to make his loved ones happy no matter how hard the struggle. Our dad has come to every single sporting event we have participated in no matter the weather. He is our biggest supporter in our lives.
Life is unpredictable, it has its own obstacles that come and go. Our dad encountered a huge one about a year ago. He had been suffering from painful, chronic migraines last spring so he got an MRI. On June 20th, 2019, we received the shocking news that our dad has stage 4 brain cancer, a form called Glioblastoma. It turns out Glioblastoma is the most rare and aggressive brain cancer you can get. These tumors are taking over his brain.
Unfortunately, this cancer is terminal. The prognosis stated that he only has about a year to live.
Jamal, our father, has taken countless trips to multiple hospitals these past 11 months. Our family is doing everything we can to try to save him. A pro to this virus is that we are able to spend more quality time with him and help our mom.
Our dad has been through countless sessions of chemotherapy and radiation. Unfortunately, he is no longer able to withstand any form of treatment as he is not strong enough. He is currently in the hospital battling pneumonia. It has been even harder on him and us because visitors are prohibited. The only communication is skyping him until he is able to come home. It is really difficult not to be there next to him, holding his hand, caressing his head or talking to him everyday. We want to provide the care that my dad needs. With all that my dad is going through, he shows us how strong he is as he fights this battle everyday and promises, “I am going to survive this”.
Jamal has been a miracle worker. He has battled all odds since his diagnosis, no doctor thought that he would be able to survive this far. Our dad has luckily surpassed every educated guess as to when doctors and or nurses would think he would go. His will to live is strong. A strong heart was truly given to him. His wishes are to win and beat the cancer.
Finances have become a struggle for us with no income. We want to especially prepare for any future tragedies, God forbid.
Please help our family with any prayers and financial support you are willing to give. Every deed is much appreciated. Thank you for your kind support and please keep us in your thoughts.
Update: My father has been out of the hospital since May 17th. We are happy to have him home, we are making him as comfortable as possible. Thank you everyone for your generous support <3
Baba passed away May 30th, 2020. He is not suffering anymore, he is an angel. We love him forever. His presence will never be forgotten and his spirit will never die. God bless his soul.
