Olympic Weightlifting Jamaican National Team

Hello everyone!

My name is Reon Seleman, I work in healthcare and have been active in sports for the majority of my life. I used to do competitive swimming but stopped by choice. I then found Olympic weightlifting, which I instantly clicked to the beauty of the sport and quickly progressed. I trialed for the Jamaica national team a couple of months ago and I have been very fortunate enough to have been invited to represent Jamaica at my first international competition in Puerto rico! This is working towards current goal to represent Jamaica at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2026. As part of the qualifying process it does require performing at certain international events.

I found this out very recently with the competition being held between 28th September to 5th October. Whilst some expenses are covered by the governing body, flights are not. Hence why I have created a GofundMe, as at present I would not have the funds to cover the expenses for flights and other competition expenses not covered by the governing body, in quite short notice.

The funds raised will purely be used to allow myself to pay for flight expenses, and competition specific expenses. This is a very important step for me to continue my Journey to reach my goal.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated and I hope to be able to proudly wear the green, black and yellow flag and represent Jamaica, and big up the family name and heritage.
