Help Jamaica Rebuild After Hurricane Melissa
UPDATE: 7TH NOVEMBER 2025
Thank you all for showing up for Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa. These past weeks have been heavy but deeply moving - your donations, shares, and check-ins have truly been a light.
Given the widespread devastation across multiple parishes, we are working to raise maximum funds to deliver immediate relief to as many people across the island as possible. We still need your help to make this possible; no donation is too small to bring direct, immediate support to those affected.
So far we have released the first 10k to the BREDS Foundation in Treasure Beach, which will go directly to families in need - providing food, clean water, and access to blocked roads.
We’re currently in Phase 1: Immediate Relief, focused on clean water, ready-to-eat food, shelter, and safe spaces for women and children.
What’s Next
Expanding Relief: Donations will now be distributed across all affected parishes.
Task Force: We’ve formed a small team in Jamaica and abroad, focused on rebuilding efforts and long-term resilience. This includes developing hurricane-proof infrastructure and creating solutions to help residents remain in their communities - even if they don’t legally own the land they live on.
Global Support: A collective from the fashion and creative industries is coming together to work with brands, collecting new clothes, shoes, bedding, tents, and toiletries for those who’ve lost everything. Please contact Savannah Baker directly with any ideas or if you’d like to get involved.
Logistics & Delivery: We’re working with shipping and logistics partners to send containers of donated goods from the UK and US through customs. These will be handed over to the AFJ Organization to distribute where they’re needed most.
Print Sale for Relief: A small group - Don + Ron Brodie, Larissa Gunn, Jeano Edwards, and myself are launching an amazing print sale, with all proceeds going directly to AFJ and Waves for Water to support on-the-ground clean water initiatives. Info to soon come!
On-the-Ground Partnerships: We’re teaming up with My Friend Jen’s Sickle Cell Fund and other grassroots efforts to deliver medical supplies, food, and clean water directly across all parishes. Directly to the people.
Rebuilding will come - but right now, it’s about survival.
Thank you
Savannah xoxo
The Crisis Ahead
Hurricane Melissa has left a devastating trail across Jamaica — destroying homes, uprooting families, and wiping out livelihoods. Entire communities will have lost access to food, electricity, and safe shelter.
The South Coast — including St. Elizabeth, Manchester, and Clarendon — is forecasted to face the heaviest damage, with infrastructure, crops, and small businesses completely decimated.
Our Immediate Mission
Our first priority is life-saving relief:
Clean water and food
Baby formula and hygiene essentials
Clothing and medical supplies
Shelter and emergency assistance
Funds will go directly toward helping families who have lost everything.
The Road to Recovery
Once the immediate crisis stabilizes, we’ll shift our focus to rebuilding lives and livelihoods.
That means repairing homes, reopening schools, supporting farmers, and helping small businesses get back on their feet.
Jamaica’s fertile farmlands — especially along the South Coast — are the backbone of the island’s economy and food supply. With crops and livestock wiped out, recovery will take months or even years. Replanting, restocking, and rebuilding will be essential to restoring stability.
Our Commitment
We are dedicated to transparency, accountability, and partnership.
Funds will be distributed through Breds Treasure Beach Foundation (led by Jason Henzell) and in collaboration with local Members of Parliament and community leaders to ensure relief reaches the hardest-hit areas quickly and fairly and directly.
The next phase of this fundraiser will focus on helping individual families rebuild their homes, starting with those with children. We are also going to partner with a school to assist with funds to rebuild. More to come on this during the next update.
Every dollar will go directly toward helping people rebuild — not bureaucracy.
Why We Care
We are a group of friends — led by Savannah Baker — living across Jamaica, the USA, and the UK, united by our deep love for this island. Many of us call Portland home, and Jamaica has profoundly shaped who we are.
Now, as our island faces one of its darkest moments, we are coming together to give back — with your help.
Our Goal
Save lives. Stabilize the situation. Rebuild communities. Restore hope.
Jamaica has given the world its rhythm, its spirit, and its strength.
Now, it’s our turn to give back.
Please donate what you can and share this campaign widely.
Every contribution — no matter how small — helps deliver food, water, and hope to families in crisis.
